Whether or not you say "Zee" or "Zed" to refer to the character "Z", it's still pronounced the same way. relevant example: there would be a debate as to whether it was called "Dragon Ball Zee" or "Dragon Ball Zed," but if Z wasn't a stand alone character like that, then both the US and rest of the world would pronounce it something similar to Dragon Ball Z says otherwise. I grew up with that cartoon. It's ingrained into my head to always be "zee". "Zed" sounds dumb to me. The IBM agent said "zed oh ess" or zed OS, or z/OS. The final believable word. :-) Poor Mike has been waiting 15 years for this answer. :) I believe it is either 'zee oh ess' or 'zed oh ess' depending on how you pronounce the letter 'z'. Either way is acceptable. I'm not a big fan of "zauce" (rhymes with "sauce")
British pronounce it zed only because the French pronounce it zed. About to leave this comment and realized this discussion is 9 years old. I just paused Stargate Atlantis to find the answer to this question. Anyway I prefer ZPM because I would use the first letter of each word Zero Point Module. ️.

The French say Zed, the Spanish say Zeta, the Portuguese say Zê, the English say Zed and so on and so forth. Even though the English and Canadian generally pronounce it as 'zed', in Dragon Ball's case they tend to just say the American way instead, much how like they also say Say-un than Sai-yan.
